Kim Kardashian denounces Trump’s immigration crackdown after receiving DVF Award

After being honored at the 2025 DVF Awards, Kim Kardashian strongly condemned Donald Trump’s immigration policies, specifically targeting his administration’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

Kardashian delivered her remarks during the Venice Film Festival in Italy, where she was recognized for her continued efforts in advocating for justice reform.

Speaking to the press ahead of receiving the Diane Von Furstenberg (DVF) Leadership Award, Kardashian expressed concern about the negative impact of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, which have resulted in the deportation of over 200,000 people since Trump returned to the presidency, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

She said: “In the news you hear, ‘Oh, it’s people who committed crimes, and many of them did.’ But then you realize so many of these people worked incredibly hard to help build this country, and they’re the ones being affected. These are people I know, people my friends know.”

Her remarks mark a significant shift from her earlier cooperation with the Trump administration in 2018, when she worked with White House officials to advocate for Alice Marie Johnson—a woman serving a life sentence for a non-violent drug offense. At the time, Kardashian’s efforts were seen as pivotal in advancing bipartisan criminal justice reform.

This isn’t the first time Kardashian has criticized ICE. She had previously voiced opposition to their tactics via her Instagram account, particularly during protests in Los Angeles where demonstrators condemned ICE for separating families and removing people from their jobs under the guise of targeting dangerous criminals.

Responding to Kardashian’s comments, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told Newsweek, “President Trump is fulfilling his promise to the American people to deport criminal illegal aliens and to keep America safe—regardless of what elite Hollywood celebrities may say.”

Despite political pushback, Kardashian used her platform in Venice to reaffirm her commitment to advocating for immigrants and vulnerable communities in the United States.
