DRC: Two Killed in ADF Attack

In Mabasele district of Oicha commune in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), two people were killed and several houses set on fire when the ADF rebel group launched an attack.

The incident occurred on August 27, 2025, in Oicha, Beni territory. The deaths of the two people and the burning of houses were attributed to an assault by the ADF, a group opposed to the Ugandan government.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke to local media outlets in the DRC, the attackers used tricks to bypass positions held by Congolese government forces stationed in the western part of the town.

Witnesses added that once the attack began, security forces intervened immediately, managing to stop the fire from spreading further and preventing more destruction.

They also reported that the use of heavy weapons during the clashes has continued to cause panic among civilians, forcing many to flee from the western part of the town to the east.

Ugandan government troops (UPDF) are currently deployed in the DRC to help recapture areas previously controlled by the ADF and to weaken the group, as highlighted in various joint military statements.

Some Congolese residents have also expressed satisfaction with the UPDF’s role in pushing ADF rebels out of villages and restoring local communities to their rightful inhabitants.
